A family villa since 1912 · Lake Serena, Wisconsin

Villa Bivoreli

An Italian villa on a Northwoods lake, with lemon trees in the loggia and cards after supper.
The Salone Card Room

A little luck after the pasta

The Bivoreli family built their villa with marble shipped from Carrara and a frescoed salone for Sunday card games. Today it holds ten tables under the painted ceiling, and an accordion and mandolin duo plays on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The Fresco Hall

Seven tables of classic card games beneath a hand-painted sky of clouds and cherubs.

The Loggia

Two open-air tables among potted lemon trees, overlooking the lake.

Nonna's Parlor

One private table in the family's original sitting room.

The Limoncello Bar

House-made limoncello, negronis and espresso at a marble counter.

Stay

Marble floors, lake breezes

Forty rooms with terrazzo floors, carved walnut beds and tall shuttered windows. Mornings start with mist on the water and the smell of fresh bread from the kitchen.
